The village moneylender was happily married. Or so the villagers thought.
They were bitter enemies. The more miserly he became, the more irritated his wife became.
“If you are so stingy, why did you marry me?” she asked him one day.
“I did not have to spend anything on that. Only our parents had to!”
She was appalled.
That night, she stealthily sneaked into his safe, took out everything and left him forever.
Though he despised her, the moneylender had trusted her with the keys of the house and the safe. The villagers laughed at the irony of it all.
This is my third year of participating in the A-to-Z blogging challenge and like last year, I hope to complete the challenge this year too. This post is written in response to the letter M.

On one hand he deserved being robbed. Still, his wife was a thief and obviously more interested in money than him.

Thanks for your take. I guess she wanted to teach him a lesson. Probably this was the best way to do that. Thanks again!

A fool and his money are soon parted. I can’t believe a man who despises his wife would trust her with his keys. This doesn’t really happen in the real world…..
