If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee – dear coffee,
I would just look at you longingly,
And then talk about what you and I talk;
Of my dark passenger and the not so dark.

In the company of cakes or biscuits,
I’ll open my heart for you.
We’ll discuss days and nights,
Of good tidings and bad ones.

We will also talk about you, dear coffee;
How you taste and how you should;
How the biscuits go well with you;
How you make love in my mouth.

The biscuits and cakes now done;
Just a little sip of you left.
Lightly stirring, you wish me well,
Until we meet again another evening.

I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words #6. The theme for Day 7 is ‘If we were  having coffee…….’

I'm an avid reader and writer. Reading gets me a feeling of understanding the world through different perspectives and writing helps me outline my thoughts from the cobwebs that the mind has trapped it in!

  1. Your poem just made me crave for a coffee at this hour. And I am sure I am going to have it and lose my tonight’s sleep. Your writing here is simple yet so expressive, almost like having the experience. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Now this is something. Meeting coffee over coffee and discussing about it. High on imagination yet simple on expression.
    Congratulations for completing the WTFOW #6 and kudos to your commitment for it is not easy to come back home late every evening after a long day at work and then blog, read and interact with others. Hope to see you around often in Write Tribe.

    1. Thank you, Anamika. I guess this festival came at the right time. I had just gotten over a writer’s block so I was pretty determined to write as much as I can. The wonderrful posts from the sub-tribe and outside of it made it quite exciting to read through many, if not all, posts. And thanks to you for the daily FB chats in the group – it felt good to see along us helping each other out.

  3. Even I talk with my coffee…when I make coffee the Aroma titillates my senses…that the dark colour allures me…and the first sip almost takes me to a different level…great post and congrats on finishing the challenge.
