#AtoZChallenge – Letter P – The Picnic

“Amma, I want to go. All of my friends are going.”

“No, beti. It’s not safe to go on picnics.”

The more Arati tried, the more exasperated Sudha became.

“Sudha, you have to move on. You can’t hold her back from enjoying life,” Keshav, Arati’s father, pleaded.

Sudha reminisced about a school picnic she had 25 years back. Molested by the bus driver, the memory haunted her even now.

“Our daughter will be alright, Sudha,” Keshav comforted her.

“Beti, be careful, will you?”

“I will, Amma. Don’t worry!”

Sudha watched with a smile as Arati sprinted to her room to pack.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking time to read my posts. I don’t have a specific theme. Just random thoughts – mostly standalone fiction. The post on the letter B was autobiographical. Thanks for your kind words and glad that you enjoy my writing style.
