For her all-round gymnastic skills, Hansa was nicknamed ‘The Acrobat’. Her graceful routines were legendary. As she won medal after medal, she was the most sought after athlete in a country where cricketers were above Gods. Hansa was happy.
The judge awarded the compensation to Hansa and rose. She was relieved she could forever avoid the trips to the Court which she abhorred. The better part of her last 15 years had been spent battling a forced marriage and several abuses from her husband and in-laws. Surprisingly, her parents too had deserted her. Hansa had resorted to legal proceedings despite odds being heavily stacked against her. After all, she was living among people who had scant respect for women or their rights. Hansa was once again happy.
