Two Malayalam movies which released last week gave me some food for thought, albeit for humorous reasons. Apparently the movies are doing well at the box office and have received mixed reviews. In this piece, I’m not attempting to do a review of these movies but rather sharing the train of thoughts that suggested how these titles could turn out to be predictive.
The first was the Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Action Hero Biju’. Well, it had never occurred to me that Nivin Pauly could ever play an action hero in a movie, His face is lovable and even with the mustache he sports in the movie, it is hard to believe he could ever portray an action hero. It will be interesting to see if he will hereafter be stereotyped as an action hero, even though his role in the movie cannot strictly be termed as belonging to that ilk. However, if such an event were to happen, the title of this movie will be prophetic! I don’t know, but my mind tells me he will be better off playing non action hero roles. His stars seem to be be in perfect alignment and would be a shame if it is sullied by a different image created by action hero movies. Moreover, the genre of action hero films is a little cliched.
The other thought centered around the second movie which was released almost simultaneously as the first one. It was interestingly titled ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’ (Mahesh’s Revenge). This stars Fahadh Faasil and is also a seemingly good story as reviews suggest. Now, Fahad has had some seriously bad movies since he got married (I’m not saying that event had anything to do with this trend, so calm down Fahadh & Nazriya fans!). So is this a kind of loud announcement, coming after many flops, that he is back after taking revenge on the spectators? Or on lady luck? Either way, if he is able to drum up more hits this year, with bad luck hidden in some far corner, this title too looks prophetic!
Now, isn’t this hilarious? 😀
