#366days366posts – Day 20 – The Broken Rakhi

Vidyut was arranging some important papers when suddenly he felt something falling out of his arm and on to the floor. With trepidation, he looked down and saw the rakhi that his sister Alaka had tied on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. “Don’t you dare lose it” Alaka had teased Vidyut then.

Crestfallen, Vidyut picked up the rakhi from the floor and looked at it tenderly. Tears welled down his eyes as he laid the broken rakhi on his table. Memories of the times they had spent together flashed before his mind. He was suddenly worried if anything had happened to her.

In an instant he drove to his sister’s apartment. As he climbed up the stairs, his heart was pounding a million times faster. When Alaka opened the door, Vidyut hugged her and began to sob uncontrollably on her shoulders.

Outside, the dark clouds made way for a torrential downpour.

I'm an avid reader and writer. Reading gets me a feeling of understanding the world through different perspectives and writing helps me outline my thoughts from the cobwebs that the mind has trapped it in!
